Nico- I am assuming you have to Nics in your server one for teh worl and one for the clients. Turn off firewalling _ONLY_ on the client side nic. This keep sthe server shielded from the internet and still allows the workstations full acces to the server. If you are running everything through the the same nic you will need to allow X, XDMCP,tftp( this is different than ftp) on both tcp and udp ports. CHances are that you will not be able to use the Mandrake control center to get teh settings right on the firewall if you do a port by port openeing. If you really need security, check for how to run the clients over ssh. I think some one has already done something along these lines.
