I challenge you to find a "new system" that meets up to the specs of
this one, unless you mean going the way I did, and ordering the
parts, building it yourself. And if you mean that, you will find
them hardly cheaper than I did.

Not bad price, but just a little more can get a brand new system.

Alas, my stint with LUAU and Hawaii as a whole has come to a conclusion (at
least for now). Why, you might ask? Well, mostly, I'll be at Undergrad for 2 to
3 more years, and then in Law School for 3 more after that. I'm really worried
about regretting not spending some of this time with my famil
While Moore's law is now largely irrelevant with respect to CPU speed,
it is gaining respect regarding flash memories. And we may see 512 MB

Thanks for the discussions. I am very encouraged by the interest.
Perhaps there is some background info I need to supply:
Although I have not tried yet, the ShuttleX Linux demo PC that I am
talking about allows booting from a USB port (basically Linux will treat
it as a SCSI port). Thus, if

Then you can start from that and add the stuff you need to that

Hi, I have an older linux-care cd distro which I think is now the basis for
the lnx-bbc releases. It is about 43 meg and uses blackbox as a window
manager. It loads up with a stripped down version of Mozzilla but it allows
me to get on the network surf the web on almost any box that boots to cd.

256 is pretty tight. lnx-bbc is around 50 MB on a
bizcard cd, but it has no gui, mostly just rescue
tools. I guess you could build on that. What sort of

Yeah, I think that's what happened. I ended up searching dejanews and
stumbled across a reference to a mini-HOWTO on dhcp which I managed to
track down, and got it to work, or at least start without errors, and it
looks like it's working for what I'm trying to do.
Thanks,
