I've have pretty good luck out of the drive I bought

every now and then, but I am pretty sure that the
drives have come down in price, as it's only a
24x10x40. Funny thing, it seems to burn faste

has a Toshiba Satellite 4010 (Intel Pentium II 266MHz)
for $379.97 plus shipping. That laptop may be better
for you if you want to stick to one of the major
distros, such as Red Hat, SuSE, or Mand

I have run a desktop with the about the same specs
with no problems, and since it seems that you want to
use this for web-authoring you shouldn't see many

If I were to put up a server on the Internet from
home, I'd use Roadrunner. They only charge an
additional $5 for static IP.

are slower than ATA/100. Lexar 32X 1GB CR car has a
speed of just 4.7MB/s, versus 62 MB/s with ATA/100
drives, after you get through the board.

ever had any difficulty shutting down a Linux box
throught the command prompt, and most distros come
with a shutdown option at either the login prompt or
the menu bar. The difference between the shutdown
options in Linux and Windows is that I've never had
the Linux load hang in shutdown. I
