I'm not sure, but it could have an impact on the resource needed for
running the theme
Time ago, i tried several themes and I can confirm you that those engines
have a considerably negative impact on system resources.

Julien:
I just uploaded a pcmanfm2 0.9.8 that should work better for lucid
users.
I've tested the PPA on my freshly installed Lubuntu 10.04 (correctly
updated). Now the problem is that pcmanfm 0.9.8 can't replace
/usr/share/pcmanfm/uidesktop-pref.ui wich belongs too to package pcmanfm2
Hope

Hi Team:
Today i finally upgraded my 10.04 packages with the LXDE PPA released a time
ago. So far so good (and faster) but when i tried to right click a file
pcmanfm crashed... maybe it's because i open files with one single click i
thought, so i go to preferences and pcmanfm crashed again!
Hi people!
Tomorrow will be another year, so i wanted to say to all of you Happy
New Year :) and take the opportunity to say a BIG thank you to the
Lubuntu team... you're making a big distro... the best from where i'm
standing ;)
Also, wanted to ask if someone has any information about the
It would be nice if no message came at all, a few weeks ago i wanted

For newbies and for a lot of people it's just something that they

necessary it shouldn't even be
Just tried this:
pcmanfm menu://applications/DesktopSettings
If the layout is not good, we can have a specialized menu file for it.
Personally, i find it perfect, fast clean, with no aditional programs, no
aditional anything.
It reminds me the no-fancy control center of wxp. The shortcut should
Hiyas everybody:
I picked another PC to see how is the resource consumption changing
depending on the hardware, and the result is this:
On a new machine (AMD Turion Dual Core M520, 3GB RAM ~ Lubuntu 10.10)
Aqualung 4%CPU 32RAM
Deadbeef 4%CPU 25RAM
Audacious 4%CPU 17RAM
On my old laptop (P3
Hi:
I was wondering if someone tried xfce-power-manager on Lubuntu and how it
behaves? i don't do it myself since i don't feel like i have the skills for
it...
And could someone tell me why is gnome-power-manager default on Lubuntu?
Thought Gnome in general was the heavy option...
Thanks a lot!
I would like to know if people tested it on a small configuration, to
see if the behavior is also good enough.
Running Lubuntu 10.04 at 760mhz 256Ram File-Roller runs perfect.

In my machine:
Aqualung:28%CPU / 28 Mb Ram
Deadbeef:15-17%CPU / 24 Mb Ram
Audacious: 9%CPU / 19 Mb Ram (my favourite)
For others:
Less RAM consumption scenario:
Deadbeef 80% CPU usage 23 MB RAM
Aqualung50% CPU usage 26 MB RAM
Less CPU consumption
Sorry, last line was:
System without Audacious running: 86MB
System with Audacious running: 93MB

Hi People:
Few days ago, i came to realize that i can't shut down xscreensaver.
Actually, i don't use it at all since i only want mi screen to go black when
a time has past... Well, the thing is that in the options in xscreensaver, i
can kill the daemon BUT when i restart mi pc, xcreensaver is

So what I'm mailing about is that what if gvfs-backends is a default part
of the .iso -image of Lubuntu 10.10? Maybe we could see it in next stable
release? I've seen lots of users who can't google as much as I can (and I'm
not even that good in it ;) and there fore they're a little lost why
Hi list:
I'm just wondering if 10.10 will be faster and less ram consuming than
10.04.
I readed a bit around and someones tell it'll be better and others the
opposite, so i don't really know who to believe.
I have limited internet conection and an old piece of hardware, so
downloading an ISO
Yeah, i know it's old... but only now i've get it to work
I did what Julien told me to:
*You can try to use the last development iso of Ubuntu, and see if the
situation
is better.*
*You can also try using the last code from upstream using the xorg-edgers PPA
(https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers)
Since Lubuntu is intended for low specs machines, 'splashscreen' could be
just a text saying 'Lubuntu' and in the line under that one, 5 'o' appearing
in a set of time, so it makes consistence with the idea of the distro (and
trully think that this would me a lot easier to do and time saving to
First: Isn't there a way to get a text based splashcreen without plymouth??
it would result a faster boot! (and less complicated?)
Second: a text based installer seems to me an excellent idea to make the
installation fast, since many of us and the rest of the possible users of
lubuntu would

Hi Andrew Lubuntu team:
It's the same for the others pdf viewers such as adobe, foxit, etc... in
computers with a more powerful video card as mine (8mb) scrolling seems just
fine (i have another pc with 128mb and it works perfect), but since Lubuntu
it's made for low pcs we must think that
Hi:
Reading the lubuntu news, i've found that the new pdf reader is evince... i
thought we wanted to get a fast and independent OS, how is it working adding
a gnome based application? It's faster than epdf and/or uses less ram than
epdf?
Just asking :)

Hi guys:
I've always wondered way in all the distros i've tried the button 'windows'
(i think it's 'super') isn't used. I think that maybe there's a way to get
it to work, but i think it would be a good idea to use this touch by *
default* to show the lxde menu when pressed.
What do you think?
To solve it that way... maybe we could suggest an enhancement to openbox?
