Probably because some daemons and Ubuntu programs still started on
your Lubuntu session. When I run a Lubuntu session, without installing
Ubuntu, the session is near 50 Mb using the taskmanager.

1. This may be caused by bugs in ureadahead. Rebooting for several
times might fix this. On my box, Lubuntu uses less RAM than yours so I
cannot reproduce this.
2. PCManFM2 can work well with concky if your concky is configured
correctly. There is a blog post on http://blog.lxde.org/ for this
issue

Lucid in hopes of getting a slimmer system. But I can confirm your
observations to some extent:

When I start up Ubuntu and open Terminal and run htop, I see that I'm
using 152 MB of RAM.
I start Lubuntu and open LXTerminal and run htop, and I'm using 200 MB
of RAM!
