Hi everyone,
I have a weird problem on one of my machines.
First, this is HP dv6, Core i5 with 4GB RAM and has Lubuntu 12.04 64bit -
3.2.0-39-generic
Chromium: Version 25.0.1364.160 Ubuntu 12.04

Firefox: 19.0.2
Problem is: whenever I watch any YouTube, it plays
Thanks a lot Leszek for the help.
I managed to fix it.
Problem was with "PulseAudio". I removed it and installed "alsamixergui".
In fact, after removing PulseAudio, I had no sound unless I plug my
headset. So, I was looking at this link:

No no no.
Just that amjjawad's hardware is too great. You can install Lubuntu 12.04
on your computer.

Lubuntu is NOT only for old machines. For the last two years, users are
starting to use it on their new machines two.
I have 4 old machines and 2 new machines. ALL of them have Lubuntu :)

It is hard or impossible to install Lubuntu (any Ubuntu desktop flavour)
from the desktop iso with less than 768 MB RAM, even if it works well to
run a live session. Install from the alternate iso :-)

Hi,
if you do get time, can you guys have a look at ubuntu desktop PPC. They'll
release it if tested okay.

I like Lubuntu, and install it to all machines possible, new or old,
because I want the maximum performance. :-)
But, if a user wants eye candy, I check the other options. But I think
most users use a web browser mainly.

There is a bug in *buntus, at least in 12.10, and 13.04 (and I think
in 12.04 too), that apport erroneously reports non-existent crashes
(even in Lubuntu).
The solution is:
sudo apt-get remove apport*
Apport also slows down the execution of programs, even in my

I makes me sad, that the Ubuntu guy gave you such an answer :-(
I suggest that you try updating with terminal window commands
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
and when necessary
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Good luck :-)

Hi,
Are you saying that it is hard or impossible to install Lubuntu using the
Desktop ISO from the LiveCD or LiveUSB if your machine has less than 768MB
of RAM?
Well, from my own experience with Real Hardware for two years, I have
installed Lubuntu From the LiveCD with LESS than 256MB of RAM on P

I can successfully install Lubuntu on machines with 512 megabytes of
memory, but only if I first (when running on the live CD), go into the
package manager, and remove the lubuntu ubiquity slideshow package.
Without doing that, it crashes while still copying files to be installed.

Have you tried installing from LiveUSB and faced the same?

That could by a critical difference, because with the live CD, it's
running on RAM-disk, which takes up memory - hence the need to remove

You most welcome :)
I have stopped from using LiveCDs. I actually have an USB Drive with 8GB
capacity and I have created a Multi-ISO-Booting USB so that I just put the
ISO that I need and so far, I guess I have 4 or 5 :)
This is MUCH better than formatting, creating, etc. The process is very
easy
