global updates. Some packages may depend on it. But more important are some
configuration files, that aren't updated with individual package upgrades.
So, please, don't remove it.

When I have audio problems, I install PulseAudio Volume Control
(pavucontrol)
*$ sudo apt-get install pavucontrol*
Sometimes some output/input devices begin simply muted. You can check that
on: Start - Multimedia - PulseAudio Control

I am guessing the mail server is playing hookie and not sending all the
messages through or something, because Normally I hear back from someone
and I know someone else had posted a week or two ago if their message
had went though or not because no one ever answered their question.
I recently had to re-confirm my list membership because the list server was
getting a lot of bounces from my e-mail provider.

My plugin WiFi USB dongle worked 'out of the box'. Belkin are well known
and I'd think their drivers would be available (unless they use b43
