Most of the time I use F2FS (https://f2fs.wiki.kernel.org/) for any
flash drive and some SSD partitions. It's built specifically for them.
However, not all devices or OSes support it. 
That could be a plus if you ever lose it because it'll be more likely to
either be thrown out or formatted. (Of course, I also recommend you
encrypt everything.)
