Thanks!
That did the trick. I used the workaround, from that page, typing in emacs
Ctr-X 8 RET RET
and then the missing diacritical marks reappear!

I have a pc with spanish (latin american) keyboard, and three keypads
installed: spanish, norwegian, US
When using spanisk keypad, I cannot type circumflex!!! (used in LaTeX for
powers, like x-squared). When I try to type tha

There is one great problem: My system is not recognizing wifi, nowhere. I
am now using internet via a physical cable, works fine. wifi is not seen,
nowhere, by my machine. Before upgrading this worked. What happened?'

Skype is still not working with Lubuntu, so I tried to solve that by
installing virtualbox, and then within virtualbox installing skype.
That works fine, I just tried it with very good results! But one problem:
Skype do not get access gto the PCs camara! everythingh else works:

Is there a way to install the latest GNU octave version (3.8.0 or better
3.8.1) in Lubuntu (other than compiling from source). The PPas given in
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas?name_filter=octave
seems not to be updated in quite a while!

Followup with a little more info:
This page:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/source/precise/gl2ps
says the source build three packages:
among them one called libgl2ps-dev
Why does that one not show up in synaptic?

Hello!
I am compiling gnu octave from source on Lubuntu (13.10, all updates)
and there is a library missing. It needs libgl2ps0, which is
installed, but it also
needs some development files, which seems to be missing. In Fedora
they are in a package
gl2ps-devel.
Where can I find those?

ubuntu 13.04, and that works as it should.
Now I tried to install debian jessie in another virtual machine (I
installed wheezy, then made an upgrade). But now that I try to restart
that virtual machine, it just s
