Hey Up to 2.6.28 vanilla kernels, mounting lustre on a patchless client with b1_8 is fine. Why do I see errors about 'unknown type: mgc' on the client side with 2.6.30? When I remember correctly one module is not loaded automatically, try prior loading the module mgc by hand (modprobe mgc)

from the Debian repository as the Lustre kernel packages are tested against them. Vanilla kernels should be supported.. We've only packaged the upstream patches and modified them a bit for the debian kernels. So vanilla kernels should work as usual. Greetings Patrick Winnertz
