Hello,
I just received a query from a friend of mine who is looking for historical
pictures of lute cases. If somebody knows such pictures, please send the links
or advice. Thank you very much!

Charles,
I too have used New Skin. It burned an awful lot when I applied it, but the
butning sensation calmed down in about a minute.

Hi Wayne
Here in Provence the winter can be pretty dry too, especially when the mistral
wind is blowing (although it's pouring with rain right now!).
I try to avoid aggressive detergents (some washing-up liquids, for example, can
really lead to callous skin). Drinking enough water is a priority.
Also, next winter, try frequent moisturizing combined with filing off calluses
before they get thick enough to crack.

John Bilezikjian, a phenomenal oud player and really cool guy, died of kidney

seminars in the 1980s, and memorable jam sessions with Jurgen Hubscher at
John's house afterwards, while his wife stuffed us full of Armen
I've used newskin liquid bandage but don't like the sound I get with it. Fabric
bandages make a nice sound, not like real thumb flesh, but nice.

I would recommend seeing a competent dermatologist who could possibly prescribe
a medical product to eliminate the problem.

I've used this before. It's worth a try.

Hi folks -
I am having serious issues with cracked skin on my thumb. about where it
contacts the string, because of the dry winter weather here in the north.
I am using band-aids to keep the crack closed, but the ones that I have tried
all are too slippery to get a good sound on the lute string
