I can't read Italian tabs, it's so counterintuitive. The notes go up,
but the symbols go down. I cannot get used to it...

I wonder what the pricing of lutes and printed tabs was in the 16th
century to early 17th, in relation to purchase power.
It would be very interesting for example how many beers you needed to
not drink to be able to afford the new album by Le Roy.

My original reply to Tristan was purposefully brief and so curtailed
much of the further detail - I simply wished to give him the headlines

And incidentally I have made a recording of pieces by Gaultier in the old
tuning soon to be released as a (short) CD along with pieces by Lespine in old
tuning too...
These guys , Gaultier, Lespine and others, even though some of their production
appears in the new tunings, had been trained and
