Does anyone happen to have a readable copy of Phal=E8se Hortus Musarum 1552 ? I
am unable to read my bars 6-7 of # 12 (Fantasia Pauli Baroni, f. 12). I know
this was reprinted in several different editions, but I don't have access to
this or the original.
Best wishes,

Hello all,
Does anyone have the problem of their right hand middle finger crashing into
their thumb when playing chords? If I drop my right arm down really far it
helps but this is uncomfortable even after a short time. My thumb is a bit
longer than most, but maybe I need to arch my hand or tu
is fun to experiment with different positions and I highly
recommend persisting; you will be happy with the results.
Best wishes,

Hello Leonard,
I play guitar both thumb out and in, and it works exceptionally well if
you attack at the right angle. If you are using nails, you will have to
shape them a little differently, but you have as much power and facility
with practice.
Good luck.
Happy new year,

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to rave about a program of lute duets performed by Ronnn
McFarlane and Kenneth Be that I heard last night.
The atmosphere (Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland Ohio), content and
musicianship were SUPERB. Now I am even more excited about this summer's
lute seminar!
Hello all,
I read that Milano experimented w/fingerpicks - has anyone tried this?

Hello all,
I have a fairly good sound card (Soundblaster Audigy) and was wondering
if any of you could recommend a good microphone for recording a solo
instrument (lute, guitar, and perhaps voice)?
Regards,
Jason

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know where I might find some information about Gerle's "Das
ander Buch Laub 1549?"
Specifically, who are the composers and does the book contain reprints of
earlier works?
Best regards,
Jason
Hello all,
I posted a few of my Christmas favorites to the Fronimo lute group which
I've been playing for years on guitar; I hope everyone enjoys them. If you
have any favorite arrangements, feel free to send them my way as I'm always
looking for new music to play.
Best wishes,
Jason
Dear all,
This whole copyright issue really miffs me; the idea is to PROMOTE the
music, not to make a profit from it. I must be on a totally different
wavelength. Doesn't anyone have the end goal of just popularizing ( making
more people aware of ) this music without making some sort of petty pr
Hello all,
Did Phalese ever use finger dots in his anthology collections (i.e.
Theatrum Musicum)? I'm working with his earlier material and wondered if any
of the works were "re-edited" later with dots added.

Jason
Hello Martin,
I use Ghostview/Ghostscript available here
http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/ - you must install a set of drivers for a
laser printer (whether you have one or not) and then in Fronimo select
"print to file." Use Ghostview to open that file and convert it to pdf (it
has a few quali
Hello all,
I've arranged a few Christmas tunes for lute (or guitar) and will
eventually post the results at the Fronimo group. I was wondering if anyone
had any requests, as I plan to do a few more.

Jason
I've never played "thumb in" or "thumb under" or whatever it may be called,
but does it really facilitate the thumb-index alternation of FAST scalar
runs? It would great if someone could post a compressed video with audio
demonstrating the benfits of this tecnique. With "thumb out" technique, I can
Hello all,
I have the corrected (once again - added barlines and fixed the #) Fronimo
file for Passomeso and the accompanying Galliarda if anyone is interested.

Hello again,
There are a couple of wrong notes in bar #266. If anyone is interested
in the corrected file, let me know.

Dear all,
If you only have time to practice one piece per day, maybe you should
consider this one.
Best,
Jason

Hello all,
Does anyone have a digital format for the "Pimontoyse" (LeRoy 1552, I
believe) for guitar? I haven't been able to track it down.
Thanks in advance,
Jason
Hello everyone,
I just posted a zip file of M. Newsidler's Libro Primo (Italian tab. =
