Well,
Here's my two-penneth on this one. I've recently taken to doing a couple of solo Lute Pieces as part of my Blues Bands live set. I've experimented with mics etc, but found that the hiss they pick up from the back line is grim, sooo this is what I do. I have a contact mic on the body of my 8 course, which is run thru' a Korg AX10A acoustic guitar processor, with a touch of reverb, and a bit of depth and EQ added to it, this is then run thru' the noise gate on my main FX board and then via a BOSS LS2 line splitter into my 85 watt Peavey. Neusliders ' Dance of the Washer Women 'and Holbornes ' Galliard ' take on a new form. Purists please don't flame me. It's the way I want to play my lute. I haven't detracted from the spirit of the original music, nor re-arranged it in anyway, I've just tweaked the sound to meet the needs of what I want to do, and anyway I think the lute sounds a whole lot better this way.
