Hello all,
Please permit the shameless plug - it is my first. This is to announce that my brand new CD, "Composee pour Mademoiselle de la Balme" is now avaiable at CD Baby via the following link: http://cdbaby.com/cd/cwilke Or you can get it from me directly. It features the complete solo theorbo music of Hurel (I believe the only such recording) found in the de la Balme manuscript now housed in Pierpont, NY. For those of you not in the know, Hurel's music compares favorably with that of Robert de Visee, who's pieces have been much recorded. Much of the manuscript contains beautiful dance pieces but there are also several exceedingly gorgeous preludes and one quite extended and expressive chromatic chaconne. Please feel free to purchase (but of course!) and write a review. Thanks so much, I hope you enjoy! Chris P.S. For those of you who recall my query of a few months ago regarding the realization of the "-" ornament sign, who may be curious as to what I did with it; while I found no concrete written evidence, on the basis of context and the advice of several members of this list, I chose to interpret it as saying "don't ornament this note." Most difficult to execute. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
