E.g. on Cortex M3 you can use
REV16 or REV instruction (htonx). See CMSIS
http://www.arm.com/products/CPUs/CMSIS.html. There is an interface to
the special instructions for CortexM3 in many compiler (IAR, Keil,
gcc,..).
