The latest kernel 4.4.0-36 resolves this issue, thanks to Stéphane Graber for
the identifying the issue and the others for resolving it in the kernel.

I’ve since tried again with the latest Xenserver host version 7.0 and the exact
issue. Can anyone help with this, surely someone out there is using Xenserver
and LXD and can’t install the guest OS tools like me?
