Getting gettext to work under Cygwin

Hi, I am trying to get support for other languages working under Cygwin on Windows NT. Unfortunately, I'm stuck. If I do 'export LANG=nl' and then './lyx' in the bin directory of the installed LyX, LyX just hangs and I see nothing. If, on the other hand, I do 'export LANG=' or 'export LANG=en',
