White space to the left of navigation bar of beamer presentations.

Dear list, Does anyone see the white space to the left of the navigation bar and status bar using beamer? How can I get rid of it? I have tried linux/tetex, windows/miktex, and I can not get rid of this ugly white bar. Attached is what I get from tex/latex/beamer/solutions/conference-talks/confer
