No; it's a brand new checkout on a new machine that's never had any
form of lyx before.

It tells me that I just remove config.cache, but it did this the very
first time I ran it!

I did the cvs checkout, ./autogen.sh, ./configure. If I'm reading the
web pages properly, this is all that's supposed to be done.
