Insert raster images as JPG or GIF

Hello:   I'm another LyX beginner whit a lot of questions and few C++ programming knowledge.  I want to know if I can import raster graphics into Lyx.  I did't found this option on the "insert image" tool.  Can some LyX developer answer this simple question.  Some other windows latex GUI I saw, allow this option.   Tanks a lot for your answer   Ricardo Mantilla
