I'd like to leave here some
suggestions for future developments
of LyX.
Before that, let me just encourage
you all: KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS!
LyX is just GREAT for someone who uses
LaTeX a lot, like me.
I'm a mathematician and I simply would
like LyX to be even more practical
for the writing of mathematical papers.
So, here it goes:
1. It should be possible to compose
new symbols/formulas and with some clicks
add them to the Math Panel.
In general,
the Math Panel should be customizable.
The more customizable, the better.
This would avoid the definition of macros
on the preamble and thus simplify the
conversion LyX/LaTeX, LaTeX/LyX.
2. The conversion LaTeX/LyX should be
better. I know perfection at this is
hard, if not impossible, since TeX
is in the class of programing languages...
At least some guidelines about what
kind of TeX/LaTeX features should not
be used to ease convertion would be
greatly appreaciated.
This convertion
problem blocks my will to use LyX always,
since I have some joint works with colleagues who
use LaTeX on MSWindows
and we must exchange tex files... I'm
sure this happens with many other people
around the world.
