Sort of a hack. The first for export, the second for display. O

For how long has this lyx_sty.C been there?
Has this been work

Grr.
The circumflex in math lacks one line which AFAIK was there at some
point in time, but has somehow disappeared from CVS. And it doesn't
work (just try the sub-panel item under Misc).
Applying this patch will get it into proper working order (display,
LaTeX, save/load) again.
This finally should lay to rest, in a way that is IMHO good enough for 1.2.0,
the trouble with the circumflex and underscore symbol insertion in math.

Not exactly. There is no \^u or \^a on a french keyboard (and we need
them). However, we have a dead circumflex key which is different from
the ^ key.

sure, but at first there should be the same behaviour
in lyx for all parts. As I wrote it's different between
insets like url's and the standard text.

thanks for the patch, it works :-)
anyway, I don't understand why circumflex-space doesn't works
in lyx.

Sorry, I meant normal paragraphs not the lyx-paragraph.
here are some more informations:

where is the problem, when my circum-key (^ with space)
doesn't work in lyx paragraphs but in all other insets like
