I would like the figure caption to look like this:
Figure 1: This figure is just a test to demonstrate
how I would like the caption to look.
And not like this
Figure 1: This is how it looks now and how I
dont want it to look.

I think the documentation of the fontinst-package, available at CTAN
is a very usefull starting-point.

I am installing lyx-1.0.0pre2 on a new machine (Linux Slackware 3.5).
I installed xforms 0.88 first. And that seemed OK.
Then I did ./configure and make for lyx. At the end it said:
"Can't find libforms or libxforms"

In general you can tell configure where to search for extra libs
and include files with the option:
./configure --with-extra-lib=/usr/local/lib --with-extra-inc=/usr/local/include
Here demonstrated to search files under /usr/local/{lib,include} where
xforms was installed in the old days.
