Just to tell you that all is OK, now. I was
misled by what I believe to be a mistake in the LyX
documentation. The file Customization, Ch. 3, refers to a file
labelled as /UseDir/lyxrc. In fact I noticed that normally
option files are in hidden dirs, so I tried .lyx/lyxrc, and it
works now. I

I'm the developer who works on the Graphics Inset, that is the component
that is responsible for the insertion of graphics into LyX documents and
emiting the LaTeX code for them. That is I'm working on the NEW Graphics
Insert as opposed to the old (and unsupported) FigInset.
