Thanks, your post got me on the right track as it reminded me of a similar problem which I had with LYX: The path to my Temp Directory contained spaces (something LYX seems to be able to handle but LaTeX/MiKTeX don't. Also the Path to my *.bst (BibtexStyle) files contained spaces. I think this is
