I'm interested in having my book in pdf form, and containing a colored
cover page prior to the Title page. Not sure how to do this. Also, I
want to get the definitions of the formatting options, e.g., Titlehead,
straight. Can someone point me to any useful links about these and
other issues,

you can see why the error occurs on page 59 of the Lyx User's Guide. It
has to do with the figure being in eps format -- I had the same problem
somtimes, and substituting the eps by a pdf file worked well. If that is
not possible, try to install ImageMagick and/or follow the hints in the

I'm using Lyx to write a document. I'm loving it!
However, the generated DVI is different from the PDF.
The DVI is correct!
Using dvipdfm, grids in the first page are missing !
Using pdflatex, grids are missing, figures are missigs and black and
white document!
Using ps2pdf, the figures
