I have just installed lyx 1.4.3-5 on WinXP. However I can't get aspell
to work.
What I do is:
1. uninstall old Lyx
2. install new LyX - this creates aspell directory in c:\
3. install aspell dictionaries
4. copy files from Aspell\lib\aspell-0.60 to Aspell\Dictionaries

Word format you should use MS Word or at least OOo for writing your
paper. The point is that the TeX community has spent too little effort
on converters.

I think there's hope that in the future people will rather require Open
Doc Format files instead of Word. Then it would be great if Lyx could
export ODF easily. Maybe the planned XML file format will help...?
Lars seems to be doing XML privately and I have no idea what he has in

if you want to set the counter back use
\renewcommand\labelenumi{\arabic{enumi}.}

I had lyx 143 running on win xp and everything went fine.
Now I reinstalled lyx (with all miktex and so on) because I rearranged my
harddrive.
If I now want to create a pdf of an existing file using ps2pdf, I get only a
blank page. dvi and pdflatex works. Unfortunately I need ps2pdf...

How can I have the +/- symbol where the + is on top of the - symbol,
reading plus or minus. For example, a standard deviation would have
this sign. Tex code is fine.

when trying to preview PDF, it showing using Safari (Mac OS browser)
instead of "Preview", the default pdf preview in MacOS X
i've try to change pdfviewer from "auto" to
/Applications/Preview.app/Contents/MacOS/Preview
but it just not opening the pdf.

This may be a bit vague, but what you need to do is find the pdf file
'right click' select 'Get Info' and under the 'Open with' dialog
select the program of your choice and then hit the 'Change All'
button to apply it to all similar pdf files.
