I believe I may have stumbled upon the solution. I used to have my desktop shortcut for LyX using the target C:\LyxFiles\lyx\bin\lyx.exe -userdir C:\lyxuserdir so I figured I would just use the same userdir for the LyX 1.4.X version.Apparently this was a bad idea and resulted in the messed
