Sorry that I can't answer your question but you might perhaps try out the upcoming LyX 1.5.0 that
supports glossaries natively. If

is a show-stopper for me unfortunately so I've had to downgrade back to
LyX 1.3.6 for the foreseeable future. Thanks anyway.
Not removed, just renamed (I think). Try citation-insert.
