How to enable any *.layout?

Hi, I'm using LyX 1.0.4 and I'd like to enable some *.layout, as I cannot find them (e.g. iletter, literate_book, docbook etc.) in Layout-Document-Class but they are in the /usr/local/share/lyx/layouts directory. I cannot get them either by choosing Options-reconfigure or by running ./configure
