FIG conversion to EPS and PDF uses different software. One of them might be
set up
wrongly. First, try Tools-Reconfigure, and restart lyx.
If that did not help, Tools-Preferences, select File Handling

after upgrading to LyX 2.1.0 on Win7
I realized that I cannot produce PDF output if an xfig drawing is included in
the LyX document. (BUT the preview of the xfig drawing works. Strangely enough,
PS output DOES work.)
In a fedora-vbox I do not experience this problem.

if I put an xfig file into a LyX note, a dialog pops up
saying
LyX: Cannot convert file
No information for converting fig format files to asciixfig.
Define a converter in the preferences.
The same dialog also shows up every time I strike the ENTER key.

LyX reports
that no information is available to convert fig to asciixfig and suggests to
define a converter.
The same document did not cause such errors with LyX 1.6.6.1.
Even during typing this dialog pops up.
