For default non-bitmapped Latin and Cyrillic fonts, just install the
cm-super package from CTAN. For Mac, Gerben Wierda's i-installer will do
this for you automatically - just select the cm-super package (around 50MB),
install, reconfigure LyX and enjoy vector font Cyrillic etc.
there
might be a similar workaround for Cyrillic.
I guess I'm looking for an easier answer than having to convert and import
my own fonts, which is way beyond me at this point.

Peter

After reading the following exchange, I downloaded the cyrillic cmcyr fonts
and started to learn how to install them, only to find out that the
(unpatched) fonts were already a part of teTeX for Mac. Lots of hard work
avoided.
My question is simply - what ERT or preamble does one need to add, and
g away from the
document processing strengths of LyX/LaTeX toward simple word processing or
design, but my intention is simply to better understand what it is and can
do.

no problem following instructions.

If anyone has used this trick and can advise me on a URL of simply remind me

I was setting a friend's letter in LyX and attempted to include an EPS of
their signature in the 'signature' of the letter template so that the PDF
would look like a real letter. Unfortunately (or possibly, as expected),
the result was that the PDF included the blank space which is normally a

has something to do with unavailable PS maths glyphs. I am not a

are there any opinions out there as to why the default setting in such a

the more people that know about it, the better.

e which LyX accepted and read
as normal Cyrillic.
I am no serious coder so perhaps I don't understand the issues, but would it
be so difficult to add this functionality to LyX? Perhaps you could tell me
the right place to direct my questions on this matter. Would it be enough

Hi, there,
I have been trying to make the switch from MS Word to LyX (for Mac OS X).
Unfortunately, I have discovered that although cut and paste to and from LyX
in English works just fine, in Russian, there seems to be an encoding
problem, and no matter whether I am swapping between Word, or Tex
