Hi,
I get the error message "Lyx:Failed to start ispell!" when i try to
use the spellchecker.
I have selected "ispell" in the
preferences->Spellchecker->Spellchecker program:
option.
Can some one please help me troubleshoot this problem?

Hi,
How do i control the font size of the TOC. I have set the document
font size to "12". This seems to apply correctly to the text in the
document, but the TOC has a font size that is much larger (may be 14).

Where do i include the path to ispell?
I do see ispell in the /sw/bin directory, but i dont see an option to
specify the path to ispell under the prefernces dialog box of LyX.

Only the program names are listed there, they do not have the complete

Is there any reference material on how to use Bibdesk with Lyx? Also,
are there alternate programs that can be used to insert references in
a thesis.

I think i have figured out how to use Bibdesk with Lyx. I had some
initial difficulty in choosing the right Style for the references in
Lyx. The "apalike" style seems to work fine now. Are there other Style
files that can be added to the current list that one should be aware
of?

Hi,
Some of the figures that i insert in LyX are not centered in the
resulting .pdf file. Which options do i chose in the Graphics window
to center the figures? Also is there a way i can set this as a rule
for all figures.

"Format>Paragraph Dialog" option with my thesis for now :-)

That is, how can I turn off all page numbering prior to the ToC and then
have that begin with "i" rather than "iii"?

The ERT box comes juat after the title of my document and before the Abstract.
The
\setcounter{page}{3}
command does not seem to have any effect on the starting number. It
still nembers the first page of the Abstract with "i".
What am i doing wrong?

i am sorry. i realized what the problem is.
the 'unsrt' style works for me too. its just that i have referenced
two papers in the text that describes one of the figures in my
document. Since the text that describes appears in the "list of
figures" the references appear there too. Thus, these refren
