The following is an elyxer problem and,

Insert->File->
The problem is that, while my original PNG
file (cut.png, attached) looks good (and the
preview in lyx looks just as good), the
processed PNG image (img2.png, attached)
does not look good.
This is most probably a problem with your version of ImageMagick.
To fix this,
- wait for the next LyX re

I then export the doc to HTML.

lyx processes the PNG file and produces a new PNG file
which is referenced in the html.

generated programatically. I see that latex has
the /input{file} construct, but I do not find an
equivalent in lyx.
Try Insert->File->Child document... And select "Input" as the "Include
Type"
