I found out the solution. Just insert in the Latex Preamble:
\usepackage{chngcntr}
\counterwithout{figure}{chapter}
\counterwithout{equation}{chapter}
\counterwithout{algorithm}{chapter}
and you got simple (1, 2, 3, ...) numbering of figures, equations and
algorithms.

Hello,
I would like to have simple document-wide numbering of the algorithm floats
(1, 2, 3, ...).
Currently the algorithm floats are defined as:
\floatstyle{ruled}
\newfloat{algorithm}{tbp}{loa}[chapter]
\providecommand{\algorithmname}{Algorithm}
\floatname{algorithm}{\protect\algorithmname

I haven't seen these problems - except the copy/paste. I cannot copy from
Lyx and paste into another app. But this was also a problem with earlier
versions.

Hi,
You could use math-macro, by writing at LyX bottom line:
math-macro half
Then at the left box of your macro, write half in the way you would like
it to show.
Now every time you would like to write 1/2, you could just type \half in
math-type invaerment.
P.S

Hi
Is it possible to create the 1/2 symbol, available in many fonts, using lyx. I
don't wish to use three characters as in 1 / 2 or the fraction command but just
a single character.
Not sure if this is doable but any help much appreciated

Hello.
Can someone tell me how I can insert "1/2" as in "8 1/2" or "3/4" as in

I've tried this in math mode but it didn't look well.

\usepackage{setspace}
and in the float
\onehalfspacing
...blah...
\singlespacing
should do the trick

I am running the latest ver of Lyx for windows on windows 98 with Miktex. I
would like to set the line spacing to be 1 1/2 spacing and found the
following error:
setspace.sty not found.
\onehalfspacing
Is there any where that I could get the setspace.sty? How do I install it
into miktex
