I'm now using Japanese on cjk-lyx running on SuSE 7.3 for Sparc without
any change to cjl-lyx sources. Yes, I was wrong. It must come from some
difference in SuSE 7.3 from those of RedHat 6.2, 7.2

I'm running RH 6.2ja, and added locale data for ja_JP.eucJP from
the distribution of RH 7.2ja (ftp version).

Sorry I do not feel like helping you. But here are some hints.
First check your libc supports locale properly.
$ man wctomb
Then check environment variables LANG, LC_CTYPE, LC_ALL.
If the support of locale in your libc is only partial, t
