We have finally been able to end the 1.0.x series, and has opened up a
new 1.1.x series. We expect all releases in this series to be stable.

I have put a new prerelease lyx-1.1.1pre1 on ftp.lyx.org and at
ftp.devel.lyx.org. This release does _not_ added any features to the
ones in LyX 1.0.4. It is considered expremental so take your
precautions if you are going to check it out.

What has been done compared to 1.0.4? We have changed to
configuration scripts/code to use automake and autoconf, this makes
life easier for us. We have also removed the old LString class and are
now using a string class that is functional wise equivalent to C++
Standard string (std::string.)

Things that might be wrong in this prerelease:
        - faulty installation. This has not been checked in detail.
        - errors because of the string change. (e.g. wrong part of
        substrings extracted)

It would be very nice for us if you could check this prerelease out
and report any problems.

PS. Some of you might remember that we had an old 1.1.x series too,
this has been ditched. But a lot of the changes done in the old 1.1.x
series are changes that we want, so we will be merging them with the
new 1.1.x series that is based on 1.0.4.
