A few days ago I had some trouble importing tables from Excel to LyX. Thanks
to the help from the list, I sovled my problem. Exporting to ascii from
Excel and importing as ascii\lines is a simple, fast and powerful way the
get the tables into the document.
So I got my numerous tables importe

You could try to export to tab/newline separated text. I seem to remeber
that it is possible to paste such a beast into a table.

Can you produce a dvi with latex directly?
Maybe you can simplify your tables?
