I recompiled without threads, and the problem with save as is
not changed. Same behavior as before. The thread problem
was not seen of course.

I just tried some more small things:
You do not need to change the language to anything other than
away from default. Removing the \gui_language from
the .lyx/preferences makes it seg.fault on save as:
