It could be the integer basic that I am seeing. That and my main machine
is a T200 which takes longer to refresh due to the double screen size.
But at some point I plan to load my 102 and 8201 with the same large
text file and scroll through the file to see if I'm seeing things or not.

It was Kurt who claims to notice the difference. I forgot about the whole
integer basic thing and instead thought I remembered reading that the NEC
unit's used a single (or maybe dual) LCD controller chip vs. the 10 in the
Tandys. No real idea if that affects screen speed though. It's probably

Hi all,
Just a short note to mention that I found a defect in the firmware I did
last year for REX in NEC. I'll be looking to get those early units back to
install new firmware, so get in touch if you have a REX in your NEC.
This does not impact M100, T102 or T200.
Cheers Steve
That's easily fixed. My first line in any BASIC program is always:
10 CLS:CLEAR:DEFINTA-Z:SCREEN,0
When using non-integer variables, I use #, $, ... as modifiers.
But screen refresh - where Josh notices a difference - isn't influenced by
BASIC...
