just solder on another part... easy.
This combination is the fastest, and still low power!

Well, it is quite noticeable, still an M100 though. I would say the
responsiveness is good.
Harder on the batteries though.
Since I use M100 virtually always on external power, a turbo machine could
be ok.
I'm going to try and get the fastest M2 replacement I can, and see if it
can be pushed furt

My education was on the hardware side of things, though I've never put it into
practice. It is interesting to hear your regular reports of your various
experiments. Please keep it up!
Hi Stephen,
Updates are always welcome - You are not the only one :-)

update for the hardware geeks (I may be the only one?)
The first bottleneck is the data bus.
Swapping M2 for a faster 74LS245 yields *5MHz.* Of course this is bad for
current, so maybe there is a better CMOS part out there.
continued tweaking...

Hi Jim
Fear not, we can increase the size of the Directory making full use of
4MB. This will require BIOS changes & an OS update. That means... at
present you'll have to re-import all your user files. Can you reply

I have an early result on overclocking the M100.
In my testbed I have a stock M100, with a couple of changes.
1) I have a socket on the 80C85
2) the standard 2.45MHz clock is generated and fed to the system so that
stays constant
3) I feed the CPU with a separate clock that can range from 2.5 to 8
Jim,
thinking out loud here,
Sure, the directory structure for a single large disk could get fixed to
address the issue.
I wonder though if we might want something else.
What if we had a smallish (360kB) drive B, intended for file sharing?
Use case: Someone imports and configures all of Wordsta
So I recently wanted to try printing from WordStar 3.3 and discovered that
worked quite nicely. I also discovered that WordStar 4.0 has support for the
early HP LaserJets (and, therefore, possibly my HP 4000N may understand it),
and also the spell check may be better integrated and/or at least
Hello,
I know there was (at one point in the past) an add-on for MS word that imported
wordstar files. I know because my mother gave me a 5.25 inch diskette once
with some family history things on it and asked me to get the document out. I
first had to assemble a computer with a 5.25 inch dis

I have here a PG Design ROM expansion that fits T102.
The unit has 4 molex sockets with the 100/200 pinout to take standard
option roms, and 4 regular dip sockets with apparently regular 27C256
pinout.
All 4 regular sockets are
