I've had some issues recently with my Arch box using PCIe serial port cards. At first I thought the quad serial card I had was bad, but I bought a new dual port card and it was also giving me trouble.
It could be a regression with newer kernels, but I really have not had time to test. USB adapters and the onboard "COM1" port both still work.
