Won't help with a Z88 - but couldn't we take 5Vdc from some available port and use it to run a low-power LED gooseneck light? The bar-code reader port looks like a good candidate to me. Nice DB9->USB A dongle and you can plug in whatever light you want, provided the M100 can supply the current.
