The 3gs will be a bit slow with IOS5 but it should not be that extreme. For the
battery issue, apple is aware of this and it should be fixed in 5.01, but you
can do a few things in the mean time. If you have your phone set to sync with

I used to have that problem but as of IOS 5 if I take my phone away from my
face it goes to speaker and I have no trouble hearing voiceover. This comes
from a hearing impaired person, so maybe your phone isn't switching as it
should.
