Well, after downloading the nook app, (because a book I wanted to
download on the web site wouldn't allow it) I installed it, and was
pleasantly surprised to be offered a summary of vo gestures if I
wanted them. I opened a drm protected ebook (one I'd bought several
years ago and never did
I think a steady picture makes a lot of difference.
I have had best results if I hold the iPhone with both hands, and my elbows
resting on the table.

Hello folks.
I found an app in the app store for ios called media remote. I
didn't have a supported device, since it's a sony product, but a
quick trip to goodwill took care of that little problem. I picked up
a blue ray player for 46 bucks, and hooked it to my network at home.
It took
I agree Multipage scanning is a must. I wonder if the Hovercam would
interface with vue Scan?
The other possible option is if the Hovercam could create a folder of Jpgs
then a more efficient use of finereader may be possible.
This essentially what I do with EyePal books. These are just folders of
Hello everyone,
Last week, I received my StandScan Pro, a kind of fold-away box with interior
lighting, designed to be used with smart phones. Here are the results of two
scans, one done using the mains adaptor, and the other using the portable
battery pack.
The scans are double pages from a b
Hi again,
Just to save people some time I've taken a listen to that podcast and here are
some observations:
1. the paper must be carefully lined up with tactile markings on a supplied
paper mat. The demonstrator comments that if the page is crooked, then scan
quality degrades.
2. This one is
Hi Esther,
I would tend to agree with your reservations about abandoning flatbeds or
other, may I say, more traditional scanning solutions. What I wonder is if one
could get a fairly high-quality webcam, and if one knew someone to make even a
wooden frame, I suspect one could put a similar sys
Do the devs know about this? I don't use the program as I dont' need to any
data base work, how ever I think it woudl be a good idea to contact the devs
about this as I know some other list members use bento on their macs.
Take care and good luck.

Hi Zack,
I think Bento is not compatible with VO under Mountain Lion. I haven't found a
workaround.

Eyepal is getting quite old now. At least mine is. When I got it the Eyepal
was pretty much the only portable digital scanning solution available.
Nowadays there are lots more choice.
I started out using Eyepal on a PC and transferred it to my Imac when I got
that.
If I was starting out now I wo
Hi Kate,
I'm only getting started with these tools myself Anne Robertson is probably one
of the list experts on this and will know better.
The answer is that you can scan and recognise with ABYY but it's slow. What a
lot of us (I think it's not just me) do is if we have a lot to scan, we just
I couldn't see the results of the scan. I suspect that I didn't quite
understand what I needed to do to get that to happen. Can you both scan and
recognize with abby? or do I need both programs for this? I thought I had to
scan with vu scan and then use abby to recognize the scan. It's been
Those two programs are all mac. What issues did you have?
You're essentially spending 2K on a webcam that talks to (in my view anyway)
only very average software. Interestingly, the mac version isn't even a
genuine mac program it runs under WINE which needs X11.

Hmmm, ok. I am used to kurzweil. I had a go with abby and vu scan and
couldn't get them to work and would just like an all mac solution. Perhaps
I'll give abby and vu scan another shot or just stick with running a virtual
machine then.
Thanks for the tips.

Hi there,
At over 2000 euro? not a chance. I only use it because the university for
which I work had it lying around and I borrowed it until a student comes in and
gets it back. I would honestly say to spend a couple of hundred of whatever
currency you operate in, and buy a decent scanner, Vu
Besides this weirdness, would you say that i pal is worth the purchase?
Curiously,
Caitlyn, who is thinking of getting it later this year
