Morning people,
I don’t know if any of you have downloaded the new updates to iWork, but I’ve
noticed two things of interest:
1. the really big news from my perspective is that VO now reads Keynote in
Slideshow mode. I’ve not tested this with things like multimedia (video audio)
etc, but
Hello Dónal,
I’ve just installed all the updates but haven’t looked at them yet. The return
of short cuts for styles is indeed very welcome. And that’s great news about
Keynote, too.
Another interesting improvement is the addition of vertical rulers in Pages.
The other day, we discovered a
Hi Anne,
Great to hear you reported this one too. I had actually encountered this with
the very scanned signature you alluded to in your post. I tend to get working
eyes to look over documents, and they spotted that the signature was off. I’ve
put a bug report in about this one so hopefully
My XP Notebook has done sterling service for me over the years but is
getting on its last legs.
The logical replacement would appear to be an iPad but I am not sure it will
be up to the job.
For example last week I had to chair a meeting.
I needed 5 documents open for rapid reference.
That is

I could skin the cat was to open the window chooser. It's not very efficient

Hi all
Well back from tuning loads of pianos.
I need to do some invoices and I wonder which app on a mac would be
best to use.
of course I can use office on my machine now but would pages be a
good app to purchase for this.
I am slowly wanting to use my mac more for every day use.
thanks.

Hello David,
I’m sure that an iPad is not a good replacement for a netbook, but a MacBook
Air would definitely work for you. You can quickly switch between open
documents in Pages using Cmd-Accent sign which on a British keyboard is to the
left of z.
The smallest MacBook Air is the 11-inch
Hello John,
For your invoicing and accounting, you’d probably want both Pages and Numbers.
Tables certainly work fine in Pages now, but Numbers is the spreadsheet app.
Cheers,

Yes, Pages would work well for this, but I think Numbers might even be better,
or a combination of both. Either would do, depending on what you wanted to put
in your invoice. I believe there is even special invoice creating software that
works well on iOS—I think it was called QuickBooks or
Hi David,
Have you used Numbers recently? I'm really impressed with the latest version of
Numbers. I have always been a big fan of Microsoft Excel and kept a Windows
computer around for a while after getting my Mac mainly to use Excel. However,
now I prefer Numbers. You might need to play with
P.S. I love my MacBook Air. I've almost gotten to the point of being completely
Windows free now. I only really use Windows for track changes, but hopefully
soon I won't even need it for that.
I'm not sure if you've used a Mac before—I assume you have seeing as you're on
this list. If so, then
Hi Christ and all
To be honest, I agree with you christ that a total reinstall
just because of one wrongly configured preference really is a bit
extreme.
Of course, there's always that omln as a very very last resort.
But yes, reinstalling all our apps, not to mention mail,
messaging and
thanks there anne thought so i must get them now i have just put the chess on
the mac fritz and it works brilliant. so i will download pages and numbers for
my mac as i then will learn to use it much better than the office sweet. thanks

Hello Ann and Others,
I am using Mountain Lion, so I am not privilege to the free offerings of iWorks
on my MacBook Air. It was purchased just before the update to Mavericks. My
question is: Is it worth investing the $60-70 on the full suite? In the past
with MS Office, I never been required
Hello Eileen,
Some of your questions are hard for me to answer as the terminology is
different between Windows and the Mac, and I’ve never used Windows, but I’ll do
my best.

The only thing is: Itunes doesn't actually modify the mp3 files, it
only changes it's own info, which is kept in an xml file. So, if
you're looking to physically modify the mp3 files themselves, Itunes
is not the way to go.

If you're looking for a cloud backup service, that is completely
accessible, may I suggest box?

They even have a link for an accessible version of the site.
Admittedly, the accessible version seeks to make things simpler by
removing (some) functionality, but it works
Keepin mind the free plan only allows 250 mb file upload limit. This is fine
unless you are like me and most of your files are over 1 gig in size. Other
wise the plans look pretty good. and the prices seem decent.
Take care all.
