Hi all, in Messages on the Mac, under Mavericks 10.9.2, I can’t figure out how
to accept file transfers. I’ve tried interacting with the file transfer group,
and all it says is the format of the file, and the name of the file. I’ve
tried hitting VO space on the name of the file, since VO says

File transfers are in their own separate window, which you can bring up from
the Window menu. You should be able to accept and monitor them from there.

you have it set to your cell number? If you switch it to your email
that might help. What I mean is, perhaps you have your Mac said to receive
messages at your phone number. Perhaps changing this would help?

You can send SMS text messages from a Mac to a mobile phone by using Skype. YOu
do of course have to deposit some money in your Skype account to pay for the
phone call.
