I use one of these keyboards on my 2011 IMac with no problems. The ultra thing monstrosity that came with the IMac was for me a disaster as I developed terrible wrist pain and had to have them supported by tubigrip bandages for a week before they fully recovered. Thankfully no such problem with the old style keyboard such as the one you have.
I made the mistake of buying a Mac Specific ergonomic keyboard at great expense but it is impractical for Voiceover use. The control and option keys are separated out in different locations and the cursor keys are weirdly assembled on the left hand side of the keyboard so the only way to use standard voiceover navigation would be with a splayed hand holding down control option in odd positions with your other hand underneath it using the cursor keys. I briefly tried one out on my Mac book and rather liked it. the only thing I noticed is that where the FN key is on my newer full size keyboard it now says help when pressed in the VO help mode. Also the older keyboard has media controls on the far right above the number pad rather then additional Function keys. So is the help key the same as FN? Can I use this keyboard with my newer Apple computers? I rather like the feel of the older heavy keyboard with the keys that need a bit more pressing. Any tips on using a older keyboard on a newer Mac are wanted. eric Caron <--- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net ---> To reply to this post, please address your message to mac-access@mac-access.net You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Mac-Access forum at either the list's own dedicated web archive: <http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/mac-access/index.html> or at the public Mail Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/>.
