Hello everybody Rarely has the subject of a message I posted to the group ever brought up such response, and it has been predictably polarised.
I should first tell you that Gordon is currently lying in a hospital bed, I posted this question off my own bat and having read the responses so far, I wanted to let you know the outcome quickly. I feel sure that Gordon will agree completely with the results of my decision; so please feel free to ask him when he comes home. It is up to each of you to decide what, in the light of the decision, you wish to do regarding your own future participation in the group. But I am now totally comfortable that the decision I have taken is for the betterment of the group as a whole. Mac-Access is a group which we started because we wanted to create a place where Mac and, more recently, iOS users could discuss their passion. There are plenty of groups currently available where those wishing to discuss Windows may do so to their heart's content. I was pretty sure where I stood on this issue before reading all of your kind responses. The vast majority of which have merely confirmed our stance on the issue. So, I can now tell you, in order to pre-empt any further responses, that the discussion of Windows, for a number of reasons highlighted by the wide ranging responses I have received within the last few hours alone, will remain a banned subject on this group. I have already made it clear where I stand, and why. All but 2 of the responses I have received have convinced me that the discussion of Apple's Windows flavours of iTunes and similar would not be beneficial to the group as a whole. So that is the way it will stay unless, of Course, Gordon puts his foot down and decides otherwise which I think is very unlikely. Thank you to all who helped me to reach the decision. But the decision is made and unless Gordon opts to revert it, it's final. Those of you who feel so strongly pro the discussion of Windows must do as you see fit. But it's now official and, as far as I'm concerned binding that this group is Mac OS and iOS only. I acknowledge that Apple does support Windows but discussion forums already exist in plentiful supply to meet that demand. mac Access will, therefore, not be changing its policies not, at least, without disagreement between the owners of the list. Thank you to all who responded; this subject is now closed. I will respond where appropriate to messages I receive off list on the subject but the discussion of Windows will not become part of this group as long as I have any say in the matter. Yes; I was against the introduction of such discussion from the outset; but I wanted to see what the overriding consensus was. I now have a pretty good idea of that judging by the 26 responses received so far. Frankly I have more on my plate just at the moment. Gordon's currently very worrying health concerns are at the top of my list. However, based on the hostility demonstrated by some mostly now former members in the passed when that was discussed, I will keep that off list. Once again, many thanks for your help and, for the most part, positive response; for or against. only 2 of those messages had negative undertones and those two members must do as they see fit.
